The Future of Fintech

Master Investor is partnering with SyndicateRoom to bring you The Future of Fintech, an evening talk for fellow private investors delivered by the inimitable Nick Ogden. Practically defining Fintech before the word was coined, he now on his third billion-pound Fintech start-up. He’s most famous for founder of Worldpay, which merged with Vantiv for £9.1 billion. However, on his social media profiles, he merely refers to it as: “built up Worldpay and sold it for not enough money”.

The night will also host a discussion on how data will shape the way EIS funds work, presented by CEO and Co-founder Gonçalo de Vasconcelos, as SyndicateRoom announce the final call to invest in their own data-driven EIS funds for the 2017–18 tax year.

Our Chief Investment Officer will give a brief overview of how Fund Twenty8 – the world’s first passive EIS fund – uses an algorithm to diversify across 28 or more investments, while Francesca O’Brien, SyndicateRoom’s Head of Capital Markets, will outline the way Growth Fund draws on performance data to influence its investment decisions.

If you’re unfamiliar with EIS (the Enterprise Investment Scheme), we recommend reading about this very generous government-backed tax relief scheme that attracts billions of investment each year.

Risk warning: Investing in early-stage businesses involves risks, including illiquidity, lack of dividends, loss of investment and dilution, and it should be done only as part of a diversified portfolio. SyndicateRoom is targeted exclusively at sophisticated investors who understand these risks and make their own investment decisions.

Tax relief depends on an individual’s circumstances and may change in the future. In addition, the availability of tax relief depends on the company invested in maintaining its qualifying status.

Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance. You should not rely on any past performance as a guarantee of future investment performance.
