As we approach the Small Cap Awards, due to take place on 25th June, Master Investor profiles some of the companies shortlisted. CentralNic has been shortlisted for the Transaction of the Year award.
CentralNic is a London-headquartered, AIM-listed company which drives the growth of the global digital economy by developing and managing software platforms that allow businesses in almost every country in the world to buy subscriptions to domain names and associated internet services, protect their brands online and monetise their domains.
Its core growth strategy is to acquire businesses within its industry that are cash generative, have annuity revenue streams and have exposure to growth markets. These businesses can then be migrated onto CentralNic’s platforms, where the Company can cross-sell its products and services to its enlarged customer base.
CentralNic has experienced rapid growth over an extended period, having doubled its revenues in five out of the past six years through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions. The Company’s unique omni-platform approach is underpinned by a philosophy of providing world class solutions to every type of customer that requires domain names and associated web services. In 2020, CentralNic celebrates 24 years in the domain and web services industry.
In August 2018, CentralNic achieved a major milestone when it acquired KeyDrive, a global technology business and leading domain registrar which manages nearly 6 million domain names. This acquisition doubled the size of the company and added strength in the reseller platform and corporate domain management area of the business. Following swiftly, in September 2018, came the acquisition of GlobeHosting, a registrar and retailer of domain names and SSL certificates and a hosting provider servicing principally the Romanian and Brazilian markets.
CentralNic further strengthened its position in the domain name industry in June 2019 with the acquisition of Australasia’s leading reseller platform TPP Wholesale, which introduced CentralNic to web services such as hosting and Office 365 software at scale. This was followed by acquiring HEXONET, a market leader in domain name platforms and services for thousands of reseller clients from around the globe. Soon after, CentralNic also acquired Idegeo, operator of the retail website IWantMyName.com, renowned as the domain retailer with the best user interface design in the industry.
At the end of 2019, CentralNic completed its most recent acquisition, Team Internet, which added a new strategic unit of web services to its bank of offerings. Team Internet operates the popular domain parking service, ParkingCrew, that monetises more than 20 million domains. With the addition of monetisation services for domains CentralNic is now one of the widest omni platforms in the Internet Services Offering market.
