Glencore may be subject to fresh SFO probe

FTSE 100 miner Glencore (LON:GLEN) saw its shares tumble 4.56% to 380.60p this afternoon on the back of news that it will be investigated by the Serious Fraud Office. Rumours have circulated that investigators are seeking formal approval to look at bribery allegations involving the firm, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Israeli billionaire Dan Gertler.

Both Mr. Gertler and the DRC’s state-owned mining corporation are currently involved in their own legal cases against Glencore.

As of this afternoon, the SFO could neither confirm nor deny the validity of the story.
