It’s heart-warming stuff

600 Group (LON:SIXH) this morning report their six months to 30th September 2017. These figures are not stellar but they are very encouraging. There are a couple of exceptional items but, allowing for these, EPS is at 0.8p per share. Doubling this to 1.6p for a full year gives a PE of 10 at 16p. At 16p SIXH is capitalised at £17 million in contrast to tangible net asset value of the order of £38 million. This share price is far too low. 25p would be more in point.

One by one those stocks which were dispossessed of a daddy in the shape of ZAI as Nomad are finding new homes. Clear Leisure (LON:CLP) came back on Friday – I have bought again – and as of today Polo (LON:POL) seems happily anchored. It’s heart-warming stuff.

The long term cost of living: I have personally used Twinlock cash book and cash sheets for forty years. So I ended up last week paying £50+ for 75 sheets. Monopoly or what!

Book review: Robert Hughes was one of Australia’s truly great writers. His The Fatal Shore was first published in 1987. It is a truly astonishing 600 pages and covers the origin of penal settlements and thus modern Australia. You can take your pick on Amazon, starting with 40p and going rather higher if you are minded. Great value.

Kakuzi KAKU Lon is still listed on LSE but cannot be traded. A long term issue. How can I cash the KAKU shares held in my SIPP?

  • Peter Allen says:

Suggest you approach the directors of Camellia plc in the UK, the listed parent company of Kakuzi, and see if they can persuade the previous London jobber, Winterflood, to resume dealings.

I have long watched 600 Group; the highest price the shares have been during the past 5 years is 23.5p. The market perception is that this is a solid, well-run but plodding company that comes under the heading of ‘unexciting’. Pure numbers are sometimes not enough to value a company.
