Amarant is developing the past producing 3MS and Benzdorp gold concessions. Benzdorp is the third major gold producing area in Suriname after IAMGOLD’s Rosebel mine (producing 300,000 oz pa) and Newmont’s new Merian Gold Project (targeting 300,000 oz pa). Benzdorp has historically produced over 1m oz using primitive methods. Amarant believe there are several million oz still to be recovered using proven, modern, environmentally friendly technologies.
Amarant will begin commercial production in 2017 with a target of more than 100,000 oz per annum by 2021. All-up cash cost of production is expected to be below US$600/oz.
