Budapest Stock Exchange sponsors Master Investor Show

  • Central and Eastern Europe’s second most liquid stock market added to Main Stage speaker line-up for Master Investor Show 2018

The Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE) has chosen Master Investor Show to make its first ever appearance at a UK retail investor event. London’s Business Design Centre will host the 16th annual Master Investor Show on Saturday 17 March 2018. BSE will present on the Main Stage and showcase the Hungarian investor story. Three of their listed companies will also attend in person to meet clients in the exhibitor zone. Thousands of registered attendees will learn about the recent turnaround in Hungary’s economy and why the BSE offers UK investors access to a wealth of exciting Hungarian and European public listed companies.

The Budapest Stock Exchange has a considerable history. Originally established in 1864, today it is the second most liquid stock market in the Central and Eastern European region, with the total market capitalisation of listed firms standing at approximately US $33.8 billion.

Amanda Taylor, Master Investor’s Head of Business Development: “BSE is the third exchange to recognise Master Investor Show as a gateway to the UK investor community. We are looking forward to introducing BSE and the companies they represent to our attendees and learning more about the investment opportunity in Hungary.”

Daniel Kormoczi, Deputy CEO of BSE will present on the main-stage in a keynote talk, highlighting the recent progress of the Hungarian capital market, current investment opportunities and the long-term potential, as well as ease, in which UK investors can now access Hungarian listed stocks. Mr Kormoczi said:

We are delighted to make our first appearance at the Master Investor Show. We look forward to sharing the story behind why BUX, the official index of Budapest Stock Exchange, was the second best performing index worldwide with 137% return in the last three years. During recent years, we have been constantly working to enhance the visibility of our market and approaching UK retail investors – this well-established and recognised event is a natural step for us. We are hopeful that both investors and our companies will have a very fruitful day on 17 March.

The Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) will also be sharing the Main Stage. As the national investment promotion organisation of Hungary, HIPA will give an introduction to the general investment environment, the economic development of the country and try to convince the audience why Hungary is a very attractive investment destination.

BSE will bring a contingent of its listed companies to the event, including haulage transportation provider Waberers (WABERERS:BUD), real estate agency Duna House (DUNAHOUSE:BUD) and energy company ALTEO (ALTEO:BUD).
