Ol Caaawky seemingly trying to get his “point” across..!

UPDATE – 26 AUG – SUPRISE, SURPRISE, WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR THE GREAT MAN’S EMAIL..!

It seems our old “friend” Mr Cawkwell believes we defamed him in reporting that rumours were circulating that he was long Sefton and that we also highlighted what we believe to be the “myth” of his trading prowess, ie it is precisely that – a “myth”.

Anybody following him in recent years would have done far better doing the opposite. His record in ASOS, QPP, CUP (of late), Hargreave Lansdowne, Ruspetro etc etc… is… well not particularly inspiring.

As for reporting that he had bought “several” million VOG on another rival website – as if this was a reason to go long. Again, quite why this is newsworthy escapes us. The gross notional value of this trade is likely £40-50k and, if margined, then much less. Hardly a major bet but, more importantly, as we highlight above re his record, if this is designed to entice people to follow him, we would caution otherwise.

Perhaps more interestingly, re his post last Thursday about Sefton is the question as to just how he knew that Darwin Strategic had supplied an additional equity drawdown facility before the market knew and his reporting of this info. This looks suspiciously like disseminating material, non public information to me and which is of course a big no, no…

Mr Cawkwell, if you’d like to put some cash on the table and meet us head on in a trading competition where we display the results live to our readers then email us at editor@spreadbetmagazine.com and we’d be happy to engage (oh and leave your caps lock off IF you dare reply!!).

You are on record saying that you are “smarter than 99% of other humans and you fancy your chances against the other 1%” (or words to that effect) – let’s find out which camp I fall into.
