Quite why the Iranians elect to hold Nazanin Zaghari Ratcliffe hostage is not obvious. Even assuming she is guilty (I doubt if she is) there cannot possibly be any advantage to Iran in behaving this way. Anyway, she has done over a thousand days and many would think that that is quite enough.

The new president of the EU is Ursula von der Leyen. She is not given to drink and therefore a big improvement on Mr Juncker. Not difficult one might add. We are still coming out though.

Associated Newspapers (LON:DMGT) have been defended by George Osborne in, he alleges, the cause of journalistic freedom. The trouble is that the publication of the Darroch emails, if they were to be of any interest, had to be conscious breaches of the Official Secrets Act. Therefore, DMGT were deliberately promoting a breach of the law and are therefore criminally liable.

Finally, MPAC (LON:MPAC) came up yesterday with an encouraging statement. It looks to me that once the housing development side is established these shares should surely be past 250p.
